South Shore Millwork, Inc. is seeking a Full Time Estimator to join our team!

As New England's premier, luxury architectural millwork provider, serving the high-end commercial and residential construction markets, South Shore Millwork manages custom millwork projects. All of our work is produced in our newly expanded, state-of-the-art woodwork shop, located just southwest of Boston in Norton, Massachusetts.

Position Summary: Responsible for working with our team to analyze drawings, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare time, cost, budgeting factors for materials, shop labor and installation estimates for architectural millwork projects.

 Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Calculate accurate material and labor quantity takeoff.
  • Obtain material costing by prequalified vendors.
  • Obtain sub contractor installation pricing (if required)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with client, contractor, architect and sales during bidding process to ensure quoted price reflects their expectations.
  • Present written proposal and scope of work to contractor, etal.
  • Submit RFI's to contractor / architect when details require clarification.
  • Generate project handoff package for Project Manager(s) including: contractor information, estimate, highlighted drawings, buyout pricing, customer profile data sheet, sub-contract pricing, specialty items and RFI's with responses.
  • Conduct scope review meeting(s) with contractor, architect and/ or client.
  • Submit estimate proposals with specific attention to deadlines.
  • Generate a comprehensive scope of work for use by project manager, contractor, sales and client.
  • Represent the company with professionalism and integrity.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Skills and Requirements

  • Organizational skills related to scope, estimate clarity and available project information
  • Knowledge of architectural woodworking materials methods and standards
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Solid works or other software
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at same time
  • Proficient in software applications including MS Excel; ability to train in other software
  • Proficient in mathematics, analytical techniques and written verbal skills
  • Excellent time management skills

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • 5-10 Years of Experience architectural woodworking or related industries
