South Shore Millwork, Inc. is seeking a Full Time Millworker to join our team!

As New England's premier, luxury architectural millwork provider, serving the high-end commercial and residential construction markets, South Shore Millwork manages custom millwork projects. All of our work is produced in our newly expanded, state-of-the-art woodwork shop, located in Norton, Massachusetts.

Position Summary: The Millworker makes, assembles and/or repairs products made of wood or related materials.  Performing hand or machine work needed to layout, cut, shape and assemble products (such as: doors, frames, trim, moldings, cabinets, fixtures, and equipment) from rough sketches, drawings, or as directed. Sets up, operates and tends to wood sawing machines. May operate CNC or related equipment. 

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and operates variety of woodworking machinery (bandsaw, joiner, mortise, tenoner, table saw, shaper, stock feeders) to cut and shape parts from stock to finish and assemble parts already prepared.
  • Trims component parts of joints with hand or other tools to make them fit together accurately and snugly.
  • Responsible for all Material Tickets for pulled/returned material used to build the product.
  • Studies blueprints or drawing of projects to be constructed
  • Glues and fits together assemblies or sub-assemblies using dowels, screws, clamps or other devices to form complete units.
  • Finishes surfaces and joints of articles with sandpaper and scrapers.
  • Installs hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls.
  • Fabricate special wooden parts and components as needed.
  • Participates and actively works with others as a team, taking and accepting direction as given.
  • Inspects equipment and tools for wear and tear and report condition found to the appropriate personnel
  • Ensures accuracy and quality of craftsmanship at all times
  • Maintains productivity, schedule, timeliness.  Is reliable and consistently demonstrates initiative.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

 Skills Required:

  • Understanding and adherence to safety requirements and standards of the trade.
  • Skill in setting up and using woodworking tools and equipment.
  • Skill in performing precision work with either hand or machine tools.
  • Ability to build projects using various joinery techniques common to the trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches and diagrams.
  • Ability to initiate and complete projects with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work and interact well with co-workers and other SSM staff and vendors.
  • Ability follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • May include the ability to perform mathematical operations.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and decisiveness.


Education and Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Vocational HS preferred
  • 2-5 Years of experience in equivalent field
  • Experience in a woodworking, mill or cabinet shop using hand and power woodworking machinery and tools in the layout, milling and assembly of products made from wood and related materials.
